The In Town Program is for children in the second and third grades. There are separate leagues for second and third grades as well as for boys and girls. Grade enrollment, not age, determines player placement.
Teams typically hold one practice each week for one hour and play games on Saturday mornings. All 2nd and 3rd grade games will be at the Fruit Street Athletic Complex from 10:30-12:00.
The second graders play 5v5 (with a goalie) and the third graders play 6v6 (with a goalie). These smaller-sided games enable each child to get more “ball touches” and better develop their ball handling and passing skills, which are essential for higher-level play.
Games consist of four twelve-minute quarters. Second and third grade games have a referee. Teams are made up of players with a variety of skill levels. The goal is to create a team of equal strength so that all end up with roughly a .500 record.
